BYK-038

BYK-038 is a VOC-free and silicone-containing mineral oil-based defoamer additive for aqueous emulsions. It contains no APEO. BYK-038 achieves excellent defoaming effectiveness thanks to the addition of silicone. It is particularly suitable for use in emulsion systems with a PVC range between 30 and 70. BYK-038 provides outstanding defoaming benefits which maintains the high quality appearance of finished products. It can reduce foam formation during manufacturing process and ensure bubble-free end results. Generally 0.1-0.5% of BYK-038 is sufficient and in special cases can be used up to 0.8% as it is highly effective at low dosage levels. BYK-038 is incorporated by first adding two third of the amount to the base and remaining one third during letdown or into the final emulsion for uniform dispersion without any detrimental effects.
