BYK-306

BYK 306 is a highly effective silicone additive that provides a strong reduction of surface tension. It improves the wetting of critical substrates. BYK 306 prevents the formation of Bénard cells and improves leveling. BYK 306 is recommended for use in solvent-borne systems. It can be used at recommended levels of 0.1-0.5% based on total formulation. Optimal levels are determined through testing. BYK 306 can be incorporated during any stage of production, including post-addition. It has proven successful when added at the end of the process to avoid foam stabilization. BYK 306 reduces air draft sensitivity and promotes the orientation of matting agents. It improves acceptance of dust and spray mist while increasing surface slip. Unlike silicone oils, BYK 306 is very user friendly. Before use, testing should determine if foam is stabilized or if recoatability and cratering are affected in certain systems.
